How Does Video Response Translation Work?

From the researcher’s perspective:

Task Setup Page:

From the best practices, standpoint using a name that helps the researcher quickly identify the market & language this Self Captures is created in will be beneficial when the reviewing of responses comes along.

When setting up the Self Captures activity to send to respondents in non-English languages, the welcome message and task instructions should be set up in the respondent’s native language.

This will help the respondent easily answer read and understand what the set expectations are for the activity. Additionally, to ensure the translation is at its most accurate portrayal, instructing the respondents in the task to also include an optional recap of what they said in the video submission, will set the researcher up for success when looking to review the material they receive back when translated.

Activity Settings Page:

For a researcher to be able to translate the responses to English when reviewing the submissions, the ‘Respondent Language’ must be set to any language that is not English-based. The toggle will not appear for English transcripts that get processed. The researcher should also be sure that the respondent will be speaking the respondent language being attributed to the Self Captures activity. Responses in languages outside of the set respondent language could lead to processing errors.

Reviewing Responses in the ‘By Task’ View:

After submissions are sent in by respondents processing of the transcription (the respondent’s native language) can take up to 20% of the video submission time to complete. After that transcription is complete, if the language is in non-English there could be up to another 20% of video submission time to complete for translation capabilities, and for the toggle to English to appear.

Currently, editing capabilities are only available in the transcription view.

When using the word cloud in the ‘By Task’ view, the Key Word Cloud will only be available in English at this point.

Reviewing Responses in the ‘By Respondent’ View:

After submissions are sent in by respondents processing of the transcription (the respondent’s native language) can take up to 20% of the video submission time to complete. After that transcription is complete, if the language is in non-English there could be up to another 20% of video submission time to complete for translation capabilities, and for the toggle to English to appear.

From the respondent’s perspective:
