Researcher’s perspective
- Task Setup
For a smoother reviewing experience, it's a great idea to choose a name for your Self Captures that indicates the market and language it's targeting. This way, researchers can easily identify the content when they're going through the responses later on.
-
- The Welcome Messages & Instructions should be set up in the respondent native language and won't be translated.
Additionally, to ensure the translation is at its most accurate portrayal, instructing the respondents in the task to also include an optional recap of what they said in the video submission, will set the researcher up for success when looking to review the material they receive back when translated.
- Activity Settings
-
- Setting the 'Respondent Language' will allow the platform to automatically translate to English any video & text submissions of your respondents. View our supported language here.
The translation option will not appear for English transcripts that get processed. The researcher should also be sure that the respondent will be speaking the respondent language being attributed to the Self Captures activity. Responses in languages outside of the set respondent language could lead to processing errors.
- Translated Responses
For Self Capture video and text activity in a language other than English, researchers will receive both the native language transcript as well as a machine-generated English transcript.
A toggle icon on the right hand corner of the screen allows users toggle between both transcript language.
- Editing Transcript
Currently, transcript editing capabilities are only available in the native language view.
When using the word cloud in the ‘By Task’ view, the Key Word Cloud will only be available in English at this point.
Respondent’s perspective
Currently, none of these updates affect the respondent experience.
