Submitting Pre-Work as a Respondent – Discuss Help Center

Overview

This brief guide will provide instructions on how to submit Pre-work as a respondent. This is sometimes known as homework. If you are asked to submit Pre-work or homework it is your responsibility to complete this before the session's scheduled date and time.

How to submit Pre-Work as a Respondent

To access pre-work, a unique pre-work link must be shared with you. Links will be shared via email:

Click the link to get started and use the same link to come back to submit your pre-work tasks.

The first time the link is clicked, you will be prompted to agree to the Discuss.io Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Responding to the Pre-Work

After opening the pre-work, the tasks may now be started.

Some general response guidelines:

Be sure to read the instructions before getting started.
Responses should be robust.
Pre-work can be completed on any working device (mobile, desktop, tablet, etc.) that has video and photo capabilities.
Video submission tasks can only be up to 3 minutes long.
Photo submission tasks can submit up to 5 photos.
Once there is an upload of a video or photo they will get submitted.
Comments can be left on all video and photo submissions to further elaborate on the submission (800 characters max).
Submissions can be deleted and replaced in case the submission was incorrect or needed to be changed.

Please note that larger files take more time to upload and if your connection is not stable the action may be terminated/broken. If you have trouble when uploading a file or you are unsure whether the file you want to upload is supported please don’t hesitate to contact us by submitting a request from our Help Center.

Responding to Pre-Work Tasks

Video Submissions

Video tasks will be indicated by the 'Video Submission' title in the top right-hand corner of each task.

To upload the video, click the 'Upload' button.

To record a response click the "Record Response" button.

Recording a Video

Click the blue recording button at the bottom of the screen. Videos longer than 3 minutes will not be able to be uploaded.

Submitting a Video File

Once the respondent has finished recording or chosen the video file from their device to upload from the device menu in the top left-hand corner, they are able to click the blue 'Upload' button in the bottom right-hand corner to submit.

If the file selected is not the file the respondent wants to submit, then they are able to click the 'x' on the file or the 'Deselect All' button in the bottom left-hand corner to delete the file from being submitted.

Once the video has been submitted, a green checkmark will appear next to that task to help indicate that the file has been submitted.

Commentary about your video submission can be left below the video upload. The commentary section will only appear after a submission has been made. Click 'Comment' to update the commentary when completed.

Photo Submissions

Photo tasks will be indicated by the 'Photo Submission' title in the top right-hand corner of each task. To upload the photo, click the 'Upload' button. You can upload up to 5 images at one time.

The respondent will then be taken to a screen where they can either start capturing images or upload files from the device they are working from.

Taking a Photo

Click the "Take photo" Button.

Click the 'camera" button to capture images.

Click the "Next Button to submit

Submitting a Photo File

Once the respondent has captured all the images or chosen the photo file(s) from their device to upload from the device menu in the top left-hand corner, they are able to click the blue 'Upload' button in the bottom right-hand corner to submit.
