Overview
This brief guide provides clear instructions on how moderators can share their computer screens during a discussion on the Discuss platform, allowing participants to view stimuli and presentations. Moderators can choose to share their own screens or request panelists to share theirs, while also having the capability to play audio while sharing a specific tab. The screen sharing feature is automatically recorded with the session and proves valuable for enhancing the overall discussion experience, especially in informal usability and user experience (UX) studies, and various interactive scenarios.
How to Share Your Computer Screen as a Moderator
Moderators can:
-
Share their own screen within the meeting room.
(Useful for sharing dynamic stimuli on a moderator’s machine.)
-
Request panelists to share their screen.
(Useful for virtual “shop-alongs” and viewing a panelist’s experience.) - Play audio while screen sharing an individual tab.
TOP TIP
If you are or a respondent is using a Mac computer you will have to enable some settings on your computer. Check out how to do this in a few easy steps here.
Share your Screen as a Moderator
To share your screen as a moderator, click on the Media Icon at the bottom of the discussion. It will look like this.
Select “Share My Computer Screen.” (This option is only available to the researcher)
Choose which screen, Window, or Chrome tab you’d like to share with participants.
To activate the share button, click inside the window you would like to share. A blue box will appear around the selected window.
The shared screen will take center stage in the meeting room, as below.
Moderators also have the capability to play audio while screen sharing. Keep in mind that this will only work by screen sharing an individual tab.
Fullscreen desktop screen sharing will not play audio.
TOP TIP - The default when sharing an individual tab is "share tab audio", so be sure to de-select if it is not required. As it could cause an echo in the meeting room.
