Overview
This article will describe the process a Moderator must follow when an interview does not have a live support agent assigned.
For sessions conducted without live support, Moderators are required to seat the respondent from the waiting room after evaluating their details.
When moderators join a room, they should open the participant list in the bottom left corner. When a respondent joins the waiting room, they will be visible on the participant list.
Wait 30 seconds and then click the respondent's name to bring up their user details.
The respondent's MOS score will indicate the strength of their internet connection and their ability to publish and sustain video and audio feeds. This number can range from 0 to 5. For IDIs, the ideal score is above a 2. For focus group discussions, the ideal score is above a 3.5. A score of 0 typically indicates a corporate VPN or firewall is conflicting with the platform and the respondent will not be able to be seated into the room unless they disable that or join from another network and/or computer. If the score is satisfactory, moderators may join the respondent to the room using the plus button next to their name.
The respondent will join the room with their camera and microphone off. Moderators can turn these on for the respondent by using the buttons next to their name in the participant list.
If the respondent cannot be seen or heard, please refer to our self-support troubleshooting guide.
When all participants are ready to begin the interview, the moderator may invite observers into the discussion by clicking the "Invite Observers" button on the top right of the room. All observers entering after this button is clicked will bypass the waiting room and join the interview automatically.
After inviting observers and ensuring they can see and hear the room, the moderator can begin the recording by clicking the Recording button in the top right corner.
